Our current government is living in a fantasy land.We have individuals who have no experience what so ever and it will be the downfall of our beautiful province. They are spending with absolutely no regard instead of having a well thought out political agenda (no experience). We need fiscal restraint and direct funds to the absolutely necessary projects that need to be addressed. The honorable Ralph Klein had the conviction to explain to Albertan,s that times would be tough for awhile but things would get better if you have patience to follow our policies and as Albertan's we did and things got remarkably better (no debt) Please current premier rethink your policies before it is to late for us all and you saddle our children with enormous debts that will take generations to payoff.
I agree totally with this comment, the way this government is going we will not be able to tighten our belts as we will not have any pants to wear. If we all ran our homes in this manner the banks would be fore closing on us all. This government shows that it is ver easy to be a good opposition but very hard to be a good government. This also reflects towards the Federal government as they both seem to feel the trough has no bottom!
I have to agree, but have a greater concern. I believe the current government know their chance for re-election is remote at best, so they are not even going to try to do a good job. They have their agenda and they will push it through at any cost.
Borrowing for operations is and will always be a BAD IDEA.... we need to live within our means. Even borrowing for infrastructure is risky since it puts a portion of revenue into expense to cover carrying costs. I just hope that Queen Premier doesn't put us into huge debt just to get re-elected. We need another King Ralph... tough love but responsible
Ansolutely agree with the above comments!!!
I agree with the above. There is some room for compromise because of the world situation and low oil prices but that does not mean you go in debt for many generations to come to pay for our greed and comfort. People have to tighten there belts everywhere they can in tough times. The businesses that survive will be very successful in the future. Do not overspend, give great service and communicate with your clients. Give a better deal, negotiate prices for a win win situation. We will all benefit if we work together. Educate yourself Financially so you can make better choices.
Operating deficits should be a marker for counter measures; that is reviewing operating expenses and eliminating or deferring selective expenses. Financing of an operating deficit is essential to avoid closing the door.
Capital deficits should meet similar tests. And shovel ready projects should be undertaken and funded by debt financing to counter unemployment and stabilization of the work force.
The NDP, a Union Communist Government, has no idea how to run a business. All they want is power and every bodies money, and then
they will be happy and think they are doing the right thing!!
I long ago lost faith in any political party of any stripe. It is a sad time indeed that we our now being subjected at both the national and provincial levels by socialist philosophies which will hasten our path to fiscal destruction. It is amazing that so many Canadians can be brainwashed into believing that politicians are there to serve us. Just look at the current state of affairs in our world and the answer is clear. It is long past time for rational thought to prevail.
We have government that has no financial experiance
Typical PC manipulation. Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Didn't you learn anything from the mess created in numerous nomination meetings before the last election? I was a loyal, staunch member of the PC Party based on the principles developed in the Lougheed era. Served proudly in Government from 1979 -1993. In 2008 the Party started to leave me-entitlement, arrogance, corruption, nomination manipulation and no communication. Probably it's biggest downfall was the breakdown of the caucus system. Everybody that sat in a Stelmach, Redford, and Prentice caucus is responsible for the downfall. Accept it , conduct the funeral and let us move on and get rid of the Socialists.
Hi Ernie I agree with your comments .The Stelmach, Redford and Prentice were a joke. These past governments dripped with corruption and scandal. The current government does not have clue on how to run a government and it shows by the comments made by the current MLA'S . The phrases I hope or I think we will be alright doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy all over if you are an Albertan. The Premier was all giddy when the Prime Minister said he would spend about 800 million in Alberta right away which is a slap in the face when you know he is going to give Bombardier a billion no questions asked. Alberta has sent billions and billions to the east(Auto Industry) and when Alberta is in trouble we have to beg (I think not). The Premier also had not very much to say when certain Alberta municipalities were left out of the extended EI (Again a slap in the face). The Premier finally had a backbone to stand up for the oil industry and state we need pipelines to get our oil to market at market value not drastically discounted (only a year late). Albertan's need a powerful voice in this very real crisis (Brad Wall comes to mind). We are not pasties and have been an economic force for this great country Canada. It is way past the time for the current government to run and hide with your heads in the sand. Either govern with purpose or resign and let some other party govern because if we are subjected to this type of governing body for the next three years there will be nothing left in Alberta but a massive debt which will be on the shoulders of future generations of our children s children.
