“In the short time since this government took office, it has enacted a number of policies whose negative impacts will be felt for generations,” said Interim Leader and MLA for Calgary-Hays, Ric McIver. “As it stands right now, the NDP has saddled our children and grandchildren with crippling debt payments while at the same time driving jobs and investment out of the province at an unprecedented rate.”
The Progressive Conservatives have repeatedly called for a sensible approach to issues like government spending, action on climate change and job creation. Instead, we are now facing a $10.9 billion budget deficit, a $3 billion per year carbon tax and job losses topping 100,000.
“Albertans have grown tired of the empty rhetoric and broken promises that have become hallmarks of this government’s time in office,” said McIver. “This fall, we will continue fighting for a credible plan to reduce the deficit and pay off Alberta’s mounting debt, economically sustainable action to address climate change and measurable job creation results.”
