“A lot of Albertans have been telling us they’re very concerned about the NDP government’s whirlwind of announcements this spring,” said McIver. “Today, when asked for an update about the royalty review and the NDP’s climate change strategy, the Premier had nothing new to say – more than a month after her government made these announcements. What does her government have to show for the last three months of work, and what’s the delay?”
“While Albertans continue to face uncertainty in employment and the economy, we will continue to defend hard-working Albertans and their families whose jobs and businesses depend on clear and reliable policy,” McIver continued. “Hiding details of a provincial budget until after the by-election will not make anyone more confident about Alberta’s future.”
“Are people expected to decide who to elect on blind faith? The NDP government promised to reduce school fees, and all we got was a review. It’s increased taxes, but still hasn’t taken action yet on its promise to reduce taxes. It delayed the budget until after the fall federal election. When is this government going to start worrying about Alberta concerns instead of its federal cousins?” McIver concluded.
