“This NDP government continues to show a complete disregard for taxpayers by hiring their union pals to take on these important negotiations,” said Interim Leader and MLA for Calgary-Hays, Ric McIver. “Regardless of this individual’s experience or credentials, as a current employee of AUPE, he will be incapable of providing government with unbiased advice.”
“During these uncertain economic times, public sector wages should reflect current realities,” said McIver. “I have little confidence that upcoming negotiations will result in a fair deal for taxpayers. Furthermore, it is disappointing that the NDP government tried to quietly release this news during yesterday’s Speech from the Throne. This proves that the Premier’s Office clearly understands what they are doing is wrong.”
The Progressive Conservative Caucus is urging Premier Notley to respect Alberta taxpayers and hire a new chief negotiator – one free of any conflict of interest.
