“During this entire Legislative session, the NDP has clearly demonstrated they are more interested in promoting their ideology than having the backs of Alberta families,” said Ric McIver, Progressive Conservative Caucus Leader and MLA for Calgary-Hays. “From taking this province off a fiscal cliff by adding another $10.3 billion in new debt, to more credit downgrades and a complete failure to obtain so-called social license for pipelines, they continue to forge ahead on policies that are damaging our province.”
The NDP rushed through major pieces of legislation, including Bill 17, The Fair and Family-Friendly Workplaces Act and Bill 18, The Child Protection and Accountability Act. These critical policies required adequate and robust consultation that the NDP chose to forego and mislead Albertans with false choices.
“Rushing through critical legislation that impacts every single Albertan in this province is simply irresponsible governing from the NDP,” said McIver. “This government continues to forget that they work for Albertans, and they must listen to their concerns. Instead, they have decided to pass important bills in the middle of the night and take off for the summer.”
