The end of Ramadan is marked with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast. This is a time when Muslims come together to give thanks, to pray, to show forgiveness and to give generously to those who are less fortunate.
On this month of reflection and community-building, we find great strength and honour in serving and working alongside our many Muslim friends and neighbours who have enriched the lives of all Albertans.
For approximately 115,000 Albertans, this is one of the most celebrated holidays in the Hijri, or Lunar, calendar.
Our province’s people are as diverse as its landscape and they all contribute to a stronger Alberta. We encourage all Albertans to recognize the contributions made to this province by our Muslim community.
