“On behalf of the Progressive Conservative caucus, I would like to welcome the province of Manitoba and Premier Brian Pallister to the New West Partnership.
In Alberta, the previous PC government was instrumental in orchestrating this partnership in 2010, when we built the largest interprovincial market in Canada.
Our Progressive Conservative caucus knows the importance of free-trade and open competition to grow our economy and create new jobs. During troubling economic times, governments should spur growth by enabling entrepreneurs and the private-industry. These are values that our great province and country were built on.
Western Canada, and specifically Alberta, have historically been the economic driver of Canada. Building on agreements such as the New West Partnership will support inter-governmental trade and open competition. Manitoba is a welcomed addition to this partnership.
Our caucus looks forward to working with all jurisdictions committed to open markets and we will continue to hold the NDP government accountable to create jobs and implement policies that support Alberta families.”
