“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the wildfires currently threatening residents in the Fort McMurray region. We know evacuations and wildfires can uproot families and communities, but we also know that Albertans are some of the most resilient people around. When times get tough, we come together to handle any situation.
Dry conditions around the province require that we all take extra care to help prevent wildfires. Respecting fire bans or restrictions, ensuring campfires are properly extinguished and properly disposing of smoking materials are just a few ways we can all do our part.
Firefighters and wildfire crews continue to do an amazing job during this crisis. We commend them for their incredible dedication, commitment and willingness to put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. Albertans from across the province no doubt find inspiration in their bravery.”
